Joining Hands

To write Making a Life, I traveled around the United States and abroad to meet makers in their homes and studios and to talk to them about the role of making in their lives. In each chapter, I address a different aspect of what we stand to gain when we make things by hand. Along with my text are over three hundred photos by Rinne Allen. Editing the photo selection down to just a few hundred images was a challenge since Rinne provided so many beautiful choices. Shown here are some of the images that didn’t make it into Chapter 3: Joining Hands. It’s nice to be able to share them online. Click on the other chapters to see more images.
